Plan to modernize the buses from Galicia
Galicia has published the Law 5/2009 of 26 November on urgent measures for the modernization of the public transport sector, which includes an extension of concessions until 2015 and an automatic extension of school transport contracts until 2020.
The measures aim to introduce improvements in the field of technology and exploitation such as the introduction of SAE or integrated validation and sale systems in metropolitan transport plans.
Companies will also have to undergo improvements in the quality of service and in the fleet and equipment. In this last aspect, the Administration indicates that they should reduce the age of the fleet, adapt the signage of the vehicles to the regulations on accessibility and implement a corporate image.
